What Coaches Will Learn:
Creating Culture, Standards & Expectations
Every successful dance team begins with a strong foundation. In this module, coaches will learn how to establish a positive team culture, set clear expectations, and create systems that promote accountability, discipline, and trust. Participants will explore strategies for defining team values, communicating effectively with dancers and parents, developing leadership within the team, and building an environment where dancers can thrive both on and off the field. By the end of this session, coaches will have the tools to create a culture that supports long-term growth, retention, and excellence.
Building the Foundation
Great programs don't just attract talented dancers—they develop leaders and create an environment where dancers want to stay. In this module, coaches will learn strategies for recruiting dancers who align with their program's vision, retaining team members through meaningful engagement and development, and cultivating strong leadership from within. Participants will explore captain selection, leadership training, team dynamics, conflict management, and creating a clear pathway for dancer growth. By the end of this session, coaches will have practical tools to build a cohesive team culture that supports long-term success, accountability, and program sustainability.

Building HBCU-Ready Dancers
Is your team's training actually preparing dancers to perform the skills and movement vocabulary required in choreography? In this module, coaches will learn how to align technical training with performance expectations to close the gap between what dancers practice and what is expected on the field, floor, and audition stage. Participants will explore how to assess technical deficiencies, develop strength, flexibility, endurance, and performance quality, and create intentional training plans that support choreography execution. By the end of this session, coaches will understand the difference between training and rehearsal and have a framework for developing dancers who are technically prepared, performance-ready, and on track for future HBCU opportunities.
Training vs. Rehearsal
Preparing dancers for HBCU opportunities requires more than talent—it requires a plan. In this module, coaches will learn what HBCU dance programs are looking for and how to intentionally develop dancers from freshman year through senior year. Participants will explore technical benchmarks, performance expectations, leadership development, audition preparation, portfolio building, and year-round training strategies that position dancers for success beyond high school. By the end of this session, coaches will leave with a clear framework for creating an HBCU-ready pipeline within their own program and helping dancers confidently pursue collegiate opportunities.
